Sarala Balagopal, Chief Commercial Manager, Southern Railway, on Tuesday asked students to play an active role in keeping the railway stations, and the trains neat and tidy.

About 75 students of the Sri Gokulam College of Nursing in the city participated in the cleanliness campaign in the Salem Railway Junction on Tuesday morning.

Maya Peethambaram, Commercial Supervisor, Morappur, administered the cleanliness pledge to the students. Shubhranshu, Divisional Railway Manager, was present.

Ms. Balagopal said that cleanliness campaign should be a continuing process and the youth should play an active role.

The students should strictly adhere to the rules and regulations, and motivate others to keep the premises and trains clean.

“Your cooperation and participation is vital for a clean and healthy travel. You should cultivate the habit of depositing wastes in dustbins,” she said.

The students promised to extend their full support in the cleanliness campaign.

Later, the students cleaned the entire Salem Railway Junction campus.
