Station masters to attend meet on safety, grievance

June 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - KARUR:

Railway station masters, henceforth, will take part in the district-level road safety and grievance meet convened by the Collectors to get firsthand inputs from the public on improving basic amenities at railway stations.

A direction to that effect has been given to the station masters in Salem Railway Division.

It is part of steps taken to hear the grievances of public, who generally approach respective Collectorates to air grievances, including those concerned with various departments of Union Government.

Shubhranshu, Divisional Railway Manager, Salem, told The Hindu in Karur recently that there were reports that district collectors too had been getting demands from passengers, consumers, and others on improving basic facilities at railway stations.

It would be appropriate if station masters present at the district-level road safety and grievance meet heard the public in person.

Hence, he had asked the station masters in the Salem division to attend the meets on invitation. He had held discussions with a few collectors, including Karur Collector, on the subject.

Their inputs would be valuable in offering best services to the railway passengers. The coordinated approach with the State government officials would bring good results.
