Stalin promises law for regular interaction between people, MLAs

October 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - CUDDALORE:

DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin on Sunday said if his party comes back to power, steps would be taken to bring a law to make elected representatives meet the public once in 10 days.

Mr. Stalin has been undertaking a campaign, ‘Namakku Naame,’ across the State. On the last day of the second phase of the programme, he started the campaign from Chidambaram on Sunday.

He was accorded ‘purna kumba mariyathai’ by priests of the Chidambaram temple. He also received representations from people belonging to the minority community.

Interacting with college students, Mr. Stalin said MLAs and elected representatives of local bodies should meet the public and hear the grievances. He has been meeting people belonging to his Kolathur constituency to hear their grievances. The inspiration he drew from such interaction made him to conduct the ‘Namakku Naame’ campaign.

Lok Ayukta

To a question on corruption in government offices, he said the State government should bring in the Lok Ayukta Act.

The DMK will bring in Lok Ayukta and enforce prohibition, Mr. Stalin said.
