A district-level track and field meet for students of VI, VII and VIII standards will be held at the District Sports Complex and Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Palani at 9 a.m. on January 21.
According to District Sports Officer S. Soundararajan, schools within Dindigul educational district should send their children to the District Sports Complex and schools in Palani educational district to Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Palani. The students can participate in 100m, 200m and 400m races and high jump, long jump and shot putt events. Winners will be sent to take part in zonal level meting. The government will foot the expenditure of these winners. Ten toppers in the zonal level meeting will get a cash award of Rs.6,000 each. Priority will be given to zonal level winners to join in sports hostels.
