The Department of Dermatology of Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital organised an awareness seminar and conducted a three-day special screening camp from Thursday in the wake of ‘World Psoriasis Awareness Day.’

Speaking on the occasion, K. Sithy Athiya Munavarah, Dean, TVMCH, said psoriasis, being perceived as a ‘contagious disease’ owing to the skin texture of the affected, was only a misconception and could be treated completely through proper medication.

The Dean, who released a handbook on psoriasis, informed that the skin department’s outpatient section would organise special camps for three days for screening patients for psoriasis from Thursday. Renowned dermatologist Dr. Mahakrishnan, Assistant Dean of TVMCH S.M. Kannan, Head, Department of Dermatology, TVMCH, Nirmala Devi spoke.
