Special camp to identify high risk pregnant women held

Under the auspices of the Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project and Primary Health Centres, a special camp for identifying high risk pregnant women was held recently.

In all, a total of 315 ante-natal mothers were screened at the camps held simultaneously at the Primary Health Centre at Andakulam, Neduvasal, Pudhunagar and Pappapatty.

Of them, 74 women were found to be afflicted with high risk pregnancy, according to Vennila, Block Medical Officer, who conducted the camp at Andakulam village.

Abirami, screened the women and extended counselling to ante natal mothers. Srinivasan, Block Medical Officer at Nerduvasal, said counselling was all the more necessary as a part of ante-natal care.

Kalyani, District Maternal and Child Health Officer, spoke on the need for increasing intake of iron content among the pregnant women. Rengaraj, Block Medical Officer, spoke on the importance of healthy diet habit among pregnant women.

V. C. Subash Gandhi, District Health Systems Project Officer, and Kaliyaperumal, a physician, spoke on the objective of the camp.

A special programme called ‘Arockiya Maruthani Thiruvizha’ was organised on the occasion in which 67 ante natal mothers participated. ‘Meganthi’ imprints of vegetables, fruits and green leaf were made so as to create awareness of the importance of healthy food.
