Collector V. Dakshinamoorthy handed over a cheque of Rs. 1 lakh each to the family of victims, who died in a firecracker explosion that took place at temple festival at Kolli Hills.

During the Mariamman temple festival at Ooorpuram village in Thinnanur Nadu on April 6, firecrackers stored in a motor room exploded. In the impact, M. Kadiravan of Mangalampatti and S. Chinnusamy (45) of Puduvalavu died on the spot while five others sustained injuries and were admitted to hospital. Under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Rs. 1 lakh was sanctioned for the two families. The Collector handed over the cheques to Chinnusamy’s wife Chinnamani and Kadiravan’s father Muthusamy on Tuesday.
