Six held for DMK member’s murder

The police have arrested six persons, including the Ammapet Town Panchayat vice-chairman, in connection with the murder of a DMK local leader ostensibly over commercial and political motives.

The former DMK unit secretary Manikandan (45) of Ezhuthupattarai Street, Ammapet, near here was done to death by a gang on Thursday night and the body was dumped by the roadside near Koilvenni.

Ammapet police, who recovered the body, invested the case and came to the conclusion about the involvement of Ammapet Town Panchayat vice-chairman Thyaga Ramesh (48), with who Manikandan had political and commercial clash of interests.
