A two-day national seminar on Recent Trends in Chemistry was held at Jayaraj Annapackiam College for Women at Periyakulam in Theni district recently. About 250 participants from various universities and 22 colleges took part.

Principal T. Nirmala presided over. Madurai Kamaraj University Professor S. Rajagopal inaugurated the seminar and released the seminar proceedings. S. Natarajan from Indian Institute of Sciences delivered lectures.

Special lecture

The Women Empowerment Cell of Madurai Sivakasi Nadars’ Pioneer Meenakshi Women’s College at Poovanthi organised a special lecture at the college on December 23.

Principal C. Ramalakshmi was present. R. Poongkuzhali, Head,e Tamil Department, gave a special lecture on ‘The Supremacy of Women – The Past and at Present’ to the members of women empowerment cell.

Wins medal

A second-year student of the AAA College of Engineering & Technology at Sivakasi from the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department T.G. Pari won a silver medal (under 91 kg category) in the Tamil Nadu State Senior Men Boxing Championships 2014 organised by the Boxing Association of Tamil Nadu from December 29 to 31 in Chennai.

Students from various districts of Tamil Nadu participated in this event. Chairman P. Panjurajan, Secretary P. Karvannan, Correspondent P. Ganesan, Joint Secretary K. Vignesh Kumar, Principal K. Arulmozhi and faculty members congratulated the winner for bringing laurels to the institution.
