A zonal meeting of private security guards, affiliated to Tamil Nadu Security Thozhilalar Sangham, called upon the government and the bank managements to give adequate insurance cover to those security guards who escort huge cash transactions from one branch to another of the banks.
They also asked the employers of the security guards to provide high-end guns while on such
duties.
“Our life is always at risk in the wake of gangs attacking the guards while taking huge volumes of cash within bank branches”, G. Suresh Kumar, state secretary of the Sangham, told reporters.
