The Department of Employment and Training, in association with Tamil Nadu Skill Development Mission and Police Department, has launched a 20-day security guard training programme here on Monday.
Superintendent of Police Ashwin M. Kotnis, who inaugurated the programme, told media persons that the participants would learn how to identify a suspect, operate security equipment, walkie-talkie, computer and intercom, car calling, saluting, frisking and monitoring through closed circuit television cameras.
A job fair would be conducted at the end of the programme to facilitate an interface between the trainees and employers. It is meant for the unemployed men and women with a minimum educational qualification of a pass in eighth standard and maximum age of 45. There was a good response to this training programme last year through which 150 candidates, including 25 women, got placements.
