Schools, colleges stay shut; examinations postponed

Schools in the delta districts that were in the path of Cyclone Gaja remained closed on Friday.

In Virudhunagar, Erode and Thoothukudi districts, while schools were closed, colleges functioned as usual.

However, in Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Ramanathapuram and Sivaganga, colleges too remained closed on Friday.

The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University has cancelled all examinations due to be held in its affiliated colleges on November 16 and 17. Revised dates will be announced later.

DoTE reschedules tests

The Directorate of Technical Education has rescheduled all exams in polytechnic colleges — slated for November 16 and 17 — to November 22 and 23.

Anna University has postponed examinations that were due to be held in its affiliated colleges on November 16 and 17 to December 13 and 14 respectively.

Examinations scheduled for University departments (College of Engineering, Guindy, Alagappa College of Technology, Madras Institute of Technology and School of Architecture and Planning) were conducted as scheduled, officials said.
