Girl killed in fire accident

A schoolgirl was killed in a fire accident caused by LPG leak from a cylinder at Uluppagudi village near Natham on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Kaviya (15), a class X student of the Government Higher Secondary School in Natham. Her brother Karthik (18) who tried to rescue her sustained burns. He was admitted to Natham Government Hospital.

Police said that the accident took place when the girl was preparing coffee in the kitchen. The fire immediately spread to other areas in the house. Fire and Rescue Services personnel struggled for an hour to extinguish the fire.
