School vehicles to be screened at RTO office

Schools operating vans or buses for the benefit of their students have been asked to send their vehicles to the Regional Transport Office or its units for a joint inspection.

As per the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles (Regulation and Control of School Buses) Special Rules -2012, the district-level inter departmental committee, comprising Sub-Collector, Revenue Divisional Officer, Regional Transport Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Chief Educational Officer, District Educational Officer and Motor Vehicle Inspector of Tuticorin District, will conduct a joint inspection of school buses in the respective offices.

The Committee will inspect the fitness of the vehicles and also check whether experienced drivers and qualified attendants have been appointed in these vehicles.

The inspection will be conducted at Tuticorin Regional Transport Office (May 20), Kovilpatti Unit Office (May 26) and at Tiruchendur Unit Office (May 19).

Schools operating buses / vans for the benefit of the students should bring their vehicles to the respective offices for the joint inspection of the Committee on the prescribed dates, the statement said.
