School vans inspected for roadworthiness

A total of 30 vans belonging to 83 schools in Nagapattinam educational district were inspected for ascertaining their fitness for use during the forthcoming academic year.

Accompanied by officials, S.Palanisamy, District Collector, verified the facilities such as emergency exit, fire extinguishers, first-aid box, stability of the van floor, and drivers’ licences.

Mr.Palanisamy said a similar inspection would be conducted for the vans of Mayiladuthurai educational district on Tuesday when a total of 250 vans would be inspected at AVC Engineering College. P.Jayabaskar, Regional Transport Officer (in-charge), and M.Ramakrishnan, Chief Educational Officer, were present.
