The Supreme Court on Friday ordered cancellation of the anticipatory bail granted by the Madras High Court to a trainee IPS officer R.V. Varun Kumar in a case of dowry and woman harassment registered against him.

A Bench of Justices A.K. Patnaik and Ibrahim Kalifulla cancelled the anticipatory bail after hearing senior counsel M.N. Krishnamani and Counsel G. Indira, appearing for the complainant, G. Priyadarshini, who had filed the complaint against the trainee officer.

The Bench directed him to surrender before the trial court concerned.

Counsel submitted that the accused officer was not entitled to anticipatory bail as according to the investigating officer, the respondent accused had not cooperated with the investigation as per the High Court direction.
