In a fitting tribute to Squadron Leader K. Gokul who was killed in an air crash, the alumni of Sainik School, Amaravathinagar, who passed out in 1990 along with Gokul, renovated the Sahani theatre in the school and dedicate the work in his memories.

The modernisation of the theatre, which was originally built in memory of Sahani, the first principal of the school, had been carried out at an outlay of Rs. 20 lakh.

The 1990 batch celebrated its silver jubilee reunion this year along with the general alumni meet held on Saturday.

By dedicating the refurbishing works of the theatre, Gokul’s batch matesbrought back his memories and told the present set of cadets how bravely Gokul served Indian Air Force in Kargil war and other exercises. In another significant gesture, the alumni from 1982 batch gave away scholarships of Rs. 25,000 each to four cadets who hail from economically poor families.
