RAnjani and Gayathri.

RAnjani and Gayathri.

Singing in unison the music recitals of the siblings Ranjani-Gayathri leave a deep impact in the rasikas’ mind.

One of their well-planned music sessions was featured recently by the Senior Citizens’ complex, Brindavan Hill View on Thondamuthur Road, Coimbatore.

Beginning their kutcheri with ‘Nadha Thanumanisam’ in Chittaranjani their rendition of the following ‘Anandamrithakarshini’ (Amritavarshini) with swaras was full of aesthetic dimensions. ‘Nannu Vidachi’ (Ritigowla) that came up next was melodious.

The Thodi delineation for the kriti, ‘Thanigaivalar Saravanabhava’ brought out its gentle tenderness and their tara sthayi phrasings etched very well in the minds of the listeners. The niraval and swaras were pleasant. ‘Eppo Varuvaro’ (Jhonpuri) following a virutham was enjoyable. The concluding ‘Theeraada Vilayattu Pillai’ conjured up the images of Lord Krishna’s pranks with the gopis.

Ganesh Prasad on the violin gave delicate touches to the raga versions and swara repartees. Sai Sridhar (mridangam) and Vazhappalli Krishnakumar (ghatam) stepped up the percussive quotient to push the concert to a higher plane.
