Rs.33.36 crore to modernise check-posts

The Tamil Nadu government has allocated Rs.33.36 crore for modernising 28 commercial taxes check-posts and eight checkpoints in the State.

As part of this exercise, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has ordered that these check-posts should be renovated, vehicles and equipment purchased and infrastructural facilities created.

Of the total number of check-posts, 15 are major ones at Puzhal, K.G. Chavadi, Hosur, Thoppur, Bannari, Ranipet, Katpadi, Kandamangalam, Puliyarai and Kaliyakavilai and 13 minor — Tiruttani, Uthukottai, Peechanur, Gudalur, Gopalapuram, Meenakshipuram, Tranquebar, Melvanchur, Kottakuppam, Pattanur, Pennaiyar Bridge, Lower Camp and Bodimettu.

The eight checkpoints are at Concor (Chennai), Royapuram, Egmore Goods Yard, Central Parcel Office, Chennai Port, Salt Cotaurs, Air Cargo Complex and Thoothukudi Port.
