Residents lay siege to Dindigul GH

January 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - DINDIGUL:

Residents of Mettur village near Reddiyarchatram laid siege to Dindigul Government Hospital on Wednesday, demanding a probe into the death of M. Ponram (32) of their village.

Brother of the deceased M. Veeranan alleged that his family had a dispute with S. Ponram (70) and his son P. Jayaprakash (40) over a common path. On December 28, the duo took M. Ponram to a lonely place for peace talks. But he did not return home. Later, he was found with grievous injuries on the playground near the village.

He was admitted to Dindigul GH and discharged after treatment later. But he died in his house on Wednesday morning.

Acting on a complaint filed by the relatives of the deceased, police registered a case and shifted the body to Dindigul GH for post-mortem. However, the relatives refused to accept the body after post-mortem, and urged the police to register a murder case and arrest the persons responsible for it.
