Disgusted over refusal of the authorities to restore mini bus services, residents of Kongampalayam and Ayapalli blocked traffic along the Sathy road on Thursday.

Though within city limits, people from these localities with over 500 families walk up to Sathy Road for two km. to board buses. They charged the authorities with turning a blind eye to the mini buses restricting their services up to Ellapalayam, flouting the permit norms. The residents also complained that the mini buses were charging excess fare and sought government bus services. A police team from Chithode station persuaded the protestors to withdraw with a promise to take up their issue with the district administration.
