“Re-lay Court Road”

January 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - NAGERCOIL:

The Nagercoil Bar Association demanded the immediate re-laying of the Court Road from Duthie School Junction to Veppamudu Junction here on a war-footing on Wednesday.

To press their demand, over 200 advocates who were members of the Nagercoil Bar Council boycotted the court and staged a demonstration in front of the district court complex.

They raised slogans against the municipal authorities and local body representatives.

In his presidential address P. Paramadhass, president of the association, said that the association petitioned the Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan on December 27 as well as the Municipal Chairman Meena Dev and other officials.

In spite of the Collector’s instructions to restore the road on a war-footing, the municipal authorities failed to implement the instructions, they alleged.

If the situation continued, the association would lay siege the municipal office on January 12, said Mr. Paramadhass.
