Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder Kamal Haasan on Wednesday said his party is ready for the bypolls in 20 Assembly constituencies in the State.

On the occasion of his birthday in Chennai, Mr. Haasan said, “We cannot be too sure that the bypolls will be held for the 20 constituencies. If it is held, the Makkal Needhi Maiam will be ready for it.”

According to him, 80% of the party’s election in-charges have been appointed. “We are still interviewing people for the positions,” he added.

His party wants “clean and corruption-free” politics. “All departments will be cleansed by ‘clean and corruption-free’ politics. These days, I am not making promises to people but seeking them from the people that they will not take money from anyone,” said the actor-cum-politician.

Asked if the reports of an electoral alliance with Dravidian parties are true, Mr. Haasan quipped that he looks at these reports merely as media reports.
