Construct ramp in railway station

I was boarding a long distance train from the Puducherry Railway Station recently. As the train was leaving from platform 3, I noticed commuters who had arrived late crossing the tracks to reach the platform. I have also seen senior citizens and the physically disabled struggling to use the foot over bridge. It is also difficult to use it while carrying luggage. I suggest that a ramp be constructed so it is easier for commuters. As far as possible, it would be convenient if trains departed from platform 1. In the case where it is not available, it would be good if platform 3 is used for trains arriving in Puducherry as the final destination.

Recalibrate trains to Tiruvannamalai

This is with reference to the news items, ‘Huge turnover for Girivalam’ ( The Hindu , May 4). On the auspicious day of Chitra Pournami, only few special buses were operational from Puducherry to Tiruvannamalai. Consequently, a large number of devotees from Puducherry occupied these packed buses, and some even travelled by footboard. It is not just on auspicious days that a large number of devotees travel to Tiruvannamalai, but on other days also. Many pleas have been made to the Southern Railway authorities to run a daily train between Puducherry and Tiruvannamalai.

As of now, there are three pairs of trains running daily between Puducherry and Villupuram, and another three pairs between Villupuram and Katpadi via Tiruvannamalai at different timings.

Can’t the authorities take efforts to link services between Puducherry and Katpadi via Villupuram and Tiruvannamalai at convenient timings? Surely, where there is a will, there is a way.

Upgrade outpost as police station

The Solai Nagar outpost in Puducherry, located in the coastal area, registered the maximum number of rioting cases as per the crime statistics of the year 2012 available with the police.

It operates with minimal workforce. It is requested that the government should consider upgrading the Solai Nagar outpost as a police station.
