Protests leave schools without teachers

JACTO-GEO organises demonstrations in 13 taluks

Members of the Joint Action Council of Teachers Organisations- Government Employees Organisations (JACTO-GEO) organised demonstrations in 13 taluks on Tuesday to stress their demands, leaving many schools without teachers.

In Vellore town, thousands of protesters staged a demonstration near Anna Kalai Arangam.

The members raised slogans urging the State government to consider their demands.

Similar protests were organised at Tirupathur, Ambur, Vaniyambadi, Pernambut, Gudiyatham, Arakkonam, Katpadi, Arcot, Walajapet and Nemili.

Protests to continue

The protesters announced that they would continue intensifying their agitation until their demands were met.

Teachers would participate in large numbers in the protests to be orgnaised at the Taluk headquarters on Wednesday and Thursday, said protesters.

On Friday, protests would reach the district headquarters to draw the attention of those in the Secretariat, the protesters pointed out.
