January 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:50 am IST - TUTICORIN:

The 210-MW capacity third unit of Tuticorin Thermal Power Station (TTPS) resumed power generation after a gap of 25 days on Wednesday evening.

The production in the unit was suspended on December 14 for annual overhauling work. During the maintenance schedule, a weak portion of the boiler tube in the unit was replaced, sources from the TTPS said.

Economiser, which was defective and caused punctures often in the boiler tube, was replaced with a new one.

Experts from Nagpur

A team of technical experts from Nagpur was involved in completing the task. Now, production from all the five units, with 210 MW capacity each, was in full swing, sources added.
