Senior officials of Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday visited Karur district and carried out random checks with the draft electoral roll.
A team led by Malay Malick, Secretary, ECI, held discussions with the Collector S. Jayandhi and senior officials of the district.
It was revolved around the draft roll, which is under preparation.
He asked whether the draft roll revision was carried out properly. He enquired about the inclusion, deletion, and change of address of voters in the list.
Mr. Malick met the representatives of political parties, including the AIADMK, the DMK, the BJP, and so on. He interacted with them to know whether they had any specific grievances over the preparation of electoral roll.
Pointing out the need for preparing error-free electoral roll, Mr. Malick told the officials that additional care would be made in deletion and inclusion of voters. The officials should take action on deletion and inclusion forms only after undertaking proper enquiry.
An official of the Election Commission told The Hindu that they had been visiting the State to oversee the work related to draft roll preparation. It was overall satisfactory.
