Plan panel deputy chief visits Tiruvarur

Find newer avenues for implementing the various development-oriented schemes in Tiruvarur district, Vice-Chairman of the State Planning Committee Shanta Sheela Nair told officials here on Saturday.

Addressing a consultative meeting on addressing backwardness under the State Balanced Growth Fund, Ms. Nair underlined the need for evolving an integrated approach to deal with backwardness in any region.

Progress review

Ms. Nair reviewed the progress of various schemes implemented under the Balanced Growth Fund by governmental departments and agencies in the district besides discussing with the officials the plans for implementing recent schemes.

Map resources and demand that was specific to the region or area, the retired senior bureaucrat counselled the officials.

District Collector M. Mathivanan, officials from various departments and elected local body members participated in the deliberations.

Along with Mr. Mathivanan, Ms. Nair inspected the integrated farming techniques being practised at a farm at Kothangudi village in Koradachery taluk of Tiruvarur district during her field visit.
