A public interest litigation petition has been filed in the Madras High Court seeking either a high-level inquiry or a judicial inquiry into security lapses during the visit of Congress president Rahul Gandhi to pay homage to DMK patriarch M. Karunanidhi at the Rajaji Hall here on August 8.
Advocate A.P. Suryaprakasam has filed the petition seeking a direction to the State government to pay a compensation of ₹20 lakh to the families of each of those who had died. He wanted compensation even to those who were injured because of alleged official failure in making proper arrangements for the people to pay their last respects.
