Contract employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) staged a demonstration with their eyes blindfolded in the district, as part of a State-wide protest complaining of their neglect by the organisation.
The demonstrators led by S. Kannusamy, district unit president of BSNL Employees’ Union, and N. Shanmugavel, district unit president of Tamil Nadu Telecom Contract Workers’ Union, sought payment of salary by seventh of every month.
In view of the delay in salary payment, the contract awarded to the Chennai-based company must be annulled, they demanded.
