In a bid to reach out passport services to the residents at grassroots of Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri, the Regional Passport Office, Chennai is conducting a special passport service camp here at Dawn Matriculation Higher Secondary School, on Saturday and Sunday.
The Passport Seva Camp is slated to accept 300 prospective passport seekers (fresh passport applications) on each day on May 16 and 17. The camp will be held from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. for the benefit of the people of the two districts. Tatkal applications and applications seeking police clearance will not be accepted.
Applicants must carry online ARN sheet (application reference number sheet), along with two passport size photographs (with white background), original documents and certificates for verification along with self-attested photocopies of documents.
The application processing activities in the special camp will involve electronic capture of biometrics, capture of photo image, digitization of documents, and uploading the same in the system. Other formalities like printing of the passport, lamination of passport, quality check and final despatch will be completed from the Regional Passport Office in Chennai.
Also an awareness programme on “Passport facilities, emigration for jobs, and related visa processing and police related issues” will be conducted after the inaugural of the camp for the benefit of the local public.
The session will be held by the Protector of Emigrants, Chennai, in order to enable people to understand the finer aspects of passport/ visa/ emigration and foreign jobs and prevent them from falling prey to spurious promise of overseas jobs by agents.
