The Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamaath has appealed to the Central and the State governments to operate direct flights from Madurai to Mecca to enable Muslims from the southern districts to easily reach the holy city to offer Hajj prayers.

A resolution to this effect was passed at the TNTJ’s religious conference held here on Sunday.

The conference said Muslims from the southern districts, who had to go to Mecca, had to go to Chennai now to take their flights to the holy city.

The conference also came down on the killing of Muslims in Malaysia and urged the Centre to condemn it.
