A visual treat awaits dog lovers who will be in this hill station during the second week of May.
Long considered one of the biggest attractions of the Summer tourist season here, the annual Dog Show will be on at the Government Arts College ground from May 8 to 10. It will sport a number of new features, according to the Honorary Secretary, South of India Kennel Club (SIKC) Nagina Reddy.
Speaking to The Hindu here on Friday she said that arrangements are apace for the show.
Pointing out that efforts are on to make it as interesting and attractive as possible, she said that the curtain raiser would be obedience tests. On the same day there would be Great Dane, Beagle and Golden Retriever speciality shows. On May 9, the Chennai Canine Club would organise its two championship shows. The Thomas Memorial championship show would also be held on the second day. On the concluding day the 120th and 121st championship shows of the SIKC would be organised.
The total number of dogs taking part will be around 450.
Breeds
Among the breeds on show would be German shepherd, Doberman Pinscher, Labrador, Boxer, Weimaraner, Mudhol Hound, Rottweiler, Pomeranian, Jack Russell Terrier and Dalmatian.
