One person was killed and thirteen others injured in an accident, on bypass road near Rajapudukudi on Wednesday.
According to Kayathar Inspector of Police, Udhayasuriyan, the van was proceeding from Mayiladuthurai to Rajapudukudi.
A truck trailing the van hit the vehicle when the van driver slowed down to turn to Rajapudukudi.
While T. Tamilarasan (25), a passenger from Serithiyur village in Mayiladuthurai taluk, who suffered head injuries, was brought dead to the hospital, M. Saravanan (27) had fractured his legs.
Twelve other passengers suffered minor injuries. They were admitted to Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital.
Based on a complaint lodged by K. Srinivasan (37) president of Serithiyur panchayat, Kayathar police have filed a case.
