Only one nomination was submitted for the Assembly byelection from Nanguneri on Tuesday.

K. Padmarajan, a homoeopath of Mettur in Salem district who used to file nomination in all the byelection and even in the constituencies where the political heavyweights would contest, filed the papers for a record 206th time before District Supply Officer and Returning Officer Natesan. “It’s just an attempt to find a place in the Guinness Book of Records,” said Mr. Padmarajan after filing the nomination. The police and special squads are checking all vehicles across the district.
