Distribution of note-books to students marked the ‘Vijaya Dasami’ festival organised jointly by the Rotary Clubs of Pudukottai City and Pudukottai Maharani here on Thursday. K. Naina Mohamed, president of City Club, gave away the note-books. K. Mohanraj, president of Road Accident Rescue and Relief Committee, spoke on the significance of the festival.

Sports contest

Sports competition for students belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes will be held at the Government Stadium here on October 29. Divided into three categories – junior, senior and super-senior, the contest will include athletes and group events.

Collector S. Palanisamy, in a press release, said that this district-level event would commence at 9 a.m. Students should bring certificates issued by headmasters in support of their date of birth for ascertaining their category.

Grievances day

The farmers grievances day meeting will be held at the Collector’s Office here on October 30. In a press release issued here, Collector S. Palanisamy has urged farmers to participate in the meeting and get their grievances redressed. The meeting begins at 10.00 a.m.
