In the wake of unconfirmed reports of fever outbreak in a village in Nallampalli here, the health department officials and the administration have denied any cause for alarm.
Speaking to The Hindu , after reports of two alleged cases of dengue in Chinnareddyhalli village in Nallampalli, Collector K.Vivekanandan said, one of the patients, a 45-year-old woman had normal fever, while an 18-year-old boy’s Elisa test results were still awaited.
A fever can be confirmed for dengue only after RDT (Rapid Dengue testing) and Elisa test. There has not been any outbreak of dengue in the district, and areas that had reported normal fever earlier are also constantly vetted, Mr.Vivekanandan said.
However, the area has been brought under surveillance, and 150 houses in the habitation has been brought under anti-larval activities and fogging.
The health department has taken up door-to –door surveillance in the area. “We are following a close-circuit mechanism, where every day by 12-noon, all cases of fever and the respective areas are listed.
The cases of fever reported even two months ago are being monitored and the areas are revisited and scanned once again,” Mr. Vivekanandan said.
The administration has also chalked out a separate list called “red list” of areas that had reported cases of fever over the past two months. The local body and the block level medical team are deployed for revisits and anti-larval activities to detect at source and wean any chance of any fever outbreak, says the Collector.
However, the number of suspected cases of dengue stood in single-digit, says Mr. Vivekanandan.
People may contact the administration’s toll-free 1077, or ping on whatsapp 8903891077; or alternatively call 18004257016 and 18004251071. “There is an independent health worker to receive calls pertaining to fever alerts,” Mr. Vivekanandan says.
