New judge for Madras HC

February 21, 2019 12:51 am | Updated 12:51 am IST

Advocate Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy is scheduled to take oath as a judge of the Madras High Court on Friday. Chief Justice Vijaya Kamlesh Tahilramani will administer oath to him after Registrar General C. Kumarappan reads out the warrant of appointment issued by the President appointing the advocate as an additional judge of the court for two years.

His appointment would increase the working strength of the judges of the High Court to 60 as against the sanctioned strength of 75 judges. However, the number is soon expected to come down to 59 as the Supreme Court collegium on Tuesday reiterated its January 15 recommendation to the Centre to transfer Justice M.V. Muralidaran to the High Court of Manipur.
