Nehru produced before court after a day in police custody

Former Transport Minister K.N. Nehru, his brother K.N. Ramajeyam and Deputy Mayor M. Anbazhagan who were taken into one day's police custody on Monday evening for enquiry into a land grab case were produced before the Judicial Magistrate Court – V here on Tuesday.

The court had granted the police a day's custody of Mr. Nehru and the other two on Monday on a petition filed by the City Crime Branch, which wanted to elicit more information pertaining to the land grab case registered on September 18 on a complaint lodged by P. Karunanithi of Pollampalayam in Erode district.

Consequent to the court directive, the three were produced before the Judicial Magistrate – V who remanded them in judicial custody up to October 4. Later, Mr. Nehru was taken back to the Cuddalore Central Prison, while Anbazhagan and Ramajeyam were taken back to the Salem Central Prison and Palayamkottai Central Prison respectively.
