A delegation of National – South Indian Rivers Inter-linking Farmers Association has planned to meet the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to press the Centre to implement various schemes and introduce relief measures for the welfare of farmers. A resolution adopted to this effect at its meeting held here on Sunday said the delegation would press the Prime Minister to initiate action for the release of water from the Cauvery. It would urged the Centre to announce Rs.5,000 a tonne for sugarcane. The meeting, through another resolution, wanted the nationalisation of rivers paving the way for linking of rivers. The team would be led by P. Ayyakannu, the resolution added.
