Namakkal Municipality has proposed to implement solid waste management at a cost of Rs. 8.50 crore. A resolution was passed during a meeting held recently.

Municipal Chairman R. Karikalan said that solid waste collected from households was processed at the plant located at Kosavampatti.

With more areas brought under the municipality, the quantity of solid waste has increased.

Scientific disposal of waste was becoming a major challenge for the municipality. Fire breaks out frequently in the garbage dump yard during summer resulting in inconvenience to the residents in the area.

Hence, the municipality has decided to implement solid waste management project.
