: A 37-year-old woman and her teenage daughter were electrocuted at their house in Nemili during the early hours of Sunday.

Following rains on Saturday night, water had seeped into the thatched house of Punitha, a resident of Kottai Colony in Kariyakoodal, Nemili. The water had entered the electric switch box in the house.

At about 5.30 a.m., Punitha had woken up and touched the switch box to turn on the light when she was electrocuted.

Her daughter Lakshmi (17), who is studying in class XII at a government high school, tried to save her mother. But she too was electrocuted, the police said. - Staff Reporter
