In a brief function that lasted 15 minutes at Perumanallur near Tirupur on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated a slew of projects to the nation and laid the foundation stone for others.
The schemes were launched in the presence of Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and Governor Banwarilal Purohit.
The projects that he commissioned or dedicated to the nation included the first phase of the Chennai Metro from Washermanpet to Teynampet DMS and the coastal terminal of the Bharat Petroleum constructed at a cost of ₹400 crore. The foundation stone was laid for the expansion of the Tiruchi airport. He also commissioned the expanded passenger amenities at the Chennai airport.
Mr. Modi laid the foundation stone for the 100-bed ESI hospital in Tirupur and a 470-bed ESI hospital, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences and Research at K.K. Nagar in Chennai.
