Mission Indradhanush from October 7

To immunise children and pregnant women against seven vaccine preventable diseases, a week-long special immunisation campaigns would be held in the district from October 7.

Mission Indradhanush is a flagship programme of the Central government to ensure immunisation of children and pregnant women.

At a consultative meeting held at the Collectorate, District Collector V. Sampath said that vaccination helps prevent diseases such as diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and Hepatitis B. The camps would be held in all anganwadi centres, primary health centres, sub-centres, government hospitals and medical colleges in four phases. Each phase would be held for a week beginning October 7, November 7, December 7 and January 7, 2016. The camps would be held between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Deputy Director of Health Services J. Jegadeesh Kumar, doctors from Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital and officials from all blocks participated.
