Milk producers resort to protest seeking increase in procurement price

Milk producers of Thanjavur district staged a demonstration in front of the office of Thanjavur District Milk Producers Co-operative Union (Aavin) on Nanjikottai road here demanding increase in the procurement price of milk.

They demanded Rs.5 per litre for cow milk and Rs.7 per litre for buffalo milk. They also demanded payment of Rs.3 per litre as incentive . Other demands include making the employees working in milk producers cooperative societies at village level permanent and providing loans without interest for purchasing milch animals.

R.Kasinathan, president, Thanjavur District Milk Producers Association, led the agitation.
