: Amidst emotional scenes, PDP leader Abdul Nasir Maudany arrived at the Anwarassery Madrassa complex around 9.30 p.m. on Monday to visit his ailing mother. The visit is for five days on the basis of permission granted by the Supreme Court. Mr. Maudany was arrested from the same complex on August 17, 2010, by a team from the Karnataka Police in connection with the 2008 Bangalore serial blasts and was lodged in the Bangalore Parappana Agrahara jail.

In March 2013, he was granted bail for five days by the trial court at the prison to attend his daughter’s wedding here. Last year, he secured conditional bail from the Supreme Court but was not allowed to travel outside Bangalore city limits. On May 15, he was given permission by the Supreme Court to call on his ailing mother. He will be back in Bangalore via Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.

Staff Reporter writes from Kochi: Mr. Maudany arrived at the Cochin airport in the afternoon to a jubilant reception by party workers.

He was accompanied by his wife Soofiya Maudany and sons Omar Muktar and Salahuddin Ayyubi.
