An aged man was killed, and his son injured in a blast in a house in Konur village near Mettur on Friday afternoon.
P. Venkatachalam (60) and his family members were watching television when a loud explosion reportedly engulfed the television and other equipment in flames.
Both Venkatachalam's legs were blown off in the impact and his son Karthikeyan (35) sustained grievous injuries.
Venkatachalam died on way to hospital. Karthikeyan has been admitted to a hospital in Salem.
Explosives experts have studied the blast scene. Further investigations are on.
