Man injured

A 58-year-old man suffered injuries in his knee after a rifle used by a security personnel allegedly went off on Saturday.

The police said that Selvanathan, a realtor, was sitting in a tea stall on Tiruchy Road. Thennavan of Madurai was guarding a public sector bank’s ATM near the stall. While he was loading the gun, it accidentally went off and a bullet pierced through a wall hitting Selvanathan. He has been admitted to Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital in Salem. Doctors said that his condition was stable.
