A civil contractor, who was taken for interrogation, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Oomachikulam police station in Madurai Rural Police limits on Thursday.
Markandeyan (50) of Athikulam, who was ‘summoned' to the station for an inquiry into a complaint, allegedly hanged to death inside the station in the wee hours.
A large number of relatives and friends of Markandeyan assembled at Government Rajaji Hospital demanding action against the police personnel.
Markandeyan had lodged a complaint with Oomachikulam police a week ago stating that his daughter was missing.
