Man arrested for assaulting girl

She had spurned his proposal

A 22-year-old man was arrested for attacking a Class 12 girl near Padaveduin in Tiruvannamalai district on Friday morning.

According to the police, Pasupathi of Mangalapuram in Polur, Tiruvannamalai district, was in love with the victim.

However, the girl spurned his proposal.

On Friday, he allegedly approached her again and wanted to convince her to love him.

Around 8.30 a.m, the girl and her friends were waiting for a bus to go to school. Pasupathi allegedly attacked her with a sharp weapon and inflicted cuts on both her hands.

The villagers rushed her to the hospital. They caught Pasupathi and handed him over to the police.

He was booked under POCSO and various sections of IPC including attempt to murder.
